Focusing on restoring balance and calm in your dog; I specialise in solving the most complex and unusual of behavioural cases.
In-Person Dog behaviour training in Dundee, Perth, St Andrews, and the surrounding areas
Over a series of private, in-person, sessions, I can help you solve all kinds of behavioural problem including Separation Anxiety, Reactive Behaviour, Aggression, Resource Guarding, Protective & Territorial Behaviour, Mouthing & Biting, Over Excitement, Trauma, and Anxiety. I am a rescue dog and trauma specialist, so don’t worry if you don’t know your dogs history, or anything about the behaviour, I’m very used to that. I never use harsh methods; in fact I’m often asked to undo the effects of harsh training. My techniques have been tried and tested over 20 years to not only solve all kinds of dog behaviour problems, but to also boost confidence, trust, and resilience in your dog.
Perfecting Recall TrainingBehaviour Training in DundeeSitting for a Training TreatOff lead training with WilmaIn person training is available in Dundee and Perth, plus as far as Inchture, Newport and Tayport, Blairgowrie, Leuchars and everywhere in-between.
How does it work?
We’ll start with an assessment. This initial session will include some chat while I get to know your dog better. We’ll talk about their history, personality, their strengths and weaknesses, and then we’ll take a look at the problem behaviours. Once we’ve figured out whats gone wrong we’ll get started with some preliminary advice that might include solving underlying issues, related behaviours, confidence building, trauma recovery, and any techniques we can use in the following sessions.
Did you know? Reactive and Protective behaviour are often symptoms of an unresolved trauma, so I’ll check for that too.
Done properly, solving behaviour problems is gradual process. So over your follow-up sessions we’ll check things are working properly, tweak anything that needs it, and move onto the next steps. We’ll work in stages as that’s the best way to prevent overwhelm for you, and your dog. Plus, it will allow us to check things are working as they should before moving on.
Ongoing Support
Support is available throughout the rehabilitation process, and beyond. I’ll help you stay on track no matter what ups and downs come at you as you navigate the three stages of the learning process with your dog. In particular, I’ll get you through the testing phase and into the habit forming phase, which is the most challenging part, and often causes people to think their training plans are not working!

Some extra FAQs for you…
What kind of behaviour and training problems can you solve?
I can help you with all kinds of canine behavioural problem including hyperactive behaviour, lead pulling, recall problems, aggressive behaviour, reactive dog behaviour, jumping up, mouthing, house training, separation anxiety, and all in between! I’m a rescue dog specialist, so can help you even if you don’t know anything about the dog’s history, or behaviour.
Do you offer support between sessions?
Yes, of course. I’m only ever an email away if you get stuck or have questions.
I feel like I’ve tried everything, can you still help?
Yes, definitely. I love figuring out complex and unusual dog behaviour problems. I tend to focus on gently balancing emotion first, then tackling specific behaviours second, which makes a huge difference when working with dogs that “cookie cutter” training doesn’t work for.
Do you come to me?
Yes, for in-person training, I’ll come to you to do an assessment first. We’ll meet at your home so I can get to know your dog and his behaviour there, and then we’ll go for a walk together. After that we’ll plan where best to do our training sessions. Most of the time I’ll meet you at home, but we could arrange to meet at a park, or somewhere else, whatever makes the most sense!
What areas do you cover?
In person Dog Behaviour Consultations are currently available in the Dundee, Perth, Inchture, Newport, and Tayport area, and as far as Abernethy, Cupar, Glenrothes and St Andrews
Will I need more than one session?
The dog behaviour training process is different for everyone, but I’ll start off by coming to you for an assessment session. Your dog will behave more “normally” in their own environment, and I’ll get a better sense of them, and what they are trying to achieve with their behaviour. Then over a series of private training sessions (two is the average) we’ll work through all your dogs behavioural challenges together.
When can you fit me in?
Sessions are available throughout the week, and on Saturdays. Normally, I have spaces available for new client assessments at around 1-2 weeks notice. Follow-up training sessions are usually scheduled at around 2-3 week intervals to give you plenty of time to practise between sessions.
Will your techniques work in real life situations? My dog listens when it’s just us, but as soon as he gets distracted it all goes out the window!
Yes, of course. It’s very common for dogs to know all the tricks when they are in a quiet place, but due to anxiety, reactivity, OCD, or just being easily distracted, they can’t do them in “real life”. Doing it in a class or distraction free environment might be useful to get things started, but when the environment is the problem, we need to get out and about to make the training work for you there too.
Will I always be working 1-1 with you?
Yes, of course. I don’t pay training staff so you’ll get consistent training from me, and ONLY me, from start to finish.
I’m not local to Dundee or Perth, can you help me via Zoom?
Yes, no problem, let me know you’d like online help when you request a personalised quote and I’ll send you all the details.
